Frequently asked questions

How much does counselling cost?

Is counselling confidential?

What methods of payments can I use?

How long will I need to have counselling for?

What is your cancellation/reschedule policy?

50 minutes.

I charge $120 a session, payable before your appointment. I offer discounts for people with concession cards or on low wages. Talk to me if this is you.

You can pay with a credit card, debit card or by bank transfer.

I understand there are times when your plans change. if you do need to cancel or reschedule, please let me know 24 hours before your appointment.

Any cancellation made after that time will incur a charge of 50% of the session cost, unless you're ill and can provide a medical certificate.

You won't be charged for a cancellation or reschedule if you make it more than 24 hours before the time of your appointment.

All counselling sessions are confidential. I take and keep minimal records which are stored securely. While I may discuss some details of your story with my supervisor, with whom I meet regularly, I will not disclose any personal information that could identify you.

The only limit to confidentiality is if you tell me during a counselling session about:

  • a risk of harm or threat to your or someone else's life, or

  • a threat of, or actual harm to a minor.

Your records are also able to be subpoenaed by a court of law in Australia.

I work within the Privacy Act Guidelines of the Privacy Act 1988 Amended 2000.

It depends on you, and the issue you want to work on. Some people only need a few sessions to resolve an issue, while others choose to have longer-term therapy.

We can discuss your needs as we work together.

What's counselling all about?

As a qualified counsellor, I work with you to create a safe, respectful environment to promote your mental health and wellbeing, help you better understand yourself and help resolve your concerns.

I start by getting to know you, listening deeply to your concerns and accepting you without judgement. I use evidence-based modalities to help empower you and create the change that you want in your life.

As a result of counselling, you may experience changes in the way you perceive events in your life and understand yourself better. Counselling can also help you find different ways of thinking about situations and build awareness and acceptance and regulation of your emotions, including strong feelings. It can help you choose behaviours that align with your values and lead you to live a richer, more fulfilling life.

Who are your clients?

I counsel individual clients who are aged 18 and over. I have a special interest in working with women who are childless but not-by-choice, are dealing with their own or someone else's addiction or who have experienced betrayal trauma.

Do you provide counselling to NDIS clients?

Yes, at the moment I can accept NDIS clients who are self-managed.
